Made by Akashi-Tai Brewery on the Hyogo coast (the same family-run sake brewery operating since 1856), Shiraume is a single-batch umeshu where whole Wakayama ume plums are aged for 6 months in their own junmai sake — not the cheap shochu-and-sugar base most umeshu uses. The result is a balanced, lightly tart plum wine with a clean sake finish.
Best served chilled (5–10°C). Refrigerate the bottle 2 hours before serving. Once opened, drink within 4 weeks.

Specialty Japanese umeshu like Akashi-Tai is almost impossible to find in US retail. Total Wine and BevMo carry maybe 2-3 mass-produced umeshu (Kikkoman, Choya). This single-batch artisan version requires direct import. Our TTB-licensed partner handles the federal customs + state alcohol board compliance.
