A bath-time moisturiser — KAO Biore U Kakusobite Shinto Bath Milk (Stratum Corneum Penetrating Bath Milk) is not a body wash but a bath additive — a milky concentrate poured into the warm bathwater that penetrates the skin's stratum corneum layer while you soak. This approach to moisturising was developed specifically for the Japanese ofuro (bath) culture, where soaking in warm water is a daily ritual rather than a quick shower. The Powdery variant delivers a soft, clean-powder fragrance that has become a beloved scent signature in Japanese bathing. As you soak, the emulsion micro-droplets are driven into the uppermost skin layers by the warmth and slight osmotic effect of the bath, giving a moisturising result that persists after towelling off — typically 8–12 hours of noticeably softer skin. No post-bath body lotion is needed. A breakthrough for Japanese consumers who found applying body lotion after baths a cold, inconvenient step.
How to use
- Fill the bathtub with warm water at your preferred temperature.
- Pour one capful (approximately 25ml) of Bath Milk into the running water or into the filled bath — not before filling.
- Swirl the water briefly to disperse the milky emulsion evenly.
- Soak for a minimum of 10 minutes — the longer you soak the deeper the moisturising effect.
- Step out and pat dry gently with a towel; do not rinse off the bath water. No additional body lotion required.
