Everything you need to know about how we ship your order from Japan to your door — fast, safe, and with full tracking.
Couriers We Use
SmikieJapan ships internationally using FedEx and DHL. The courier is automatically assigned based on your shipping address, regional availability, and shipping efficiency.
We ship to: Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, United States, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, and most European countries — and many more worldwide.
Free Shipping Policy
Orders that meet the minimum threshold for your region qualify for free international shipping from Japan. Thresholds vary by country:
Processing & Delivery Time
Order processing time (leaving our Japan warehouse):
- Standard in-stock items: 1–5 Japanese business days
- During major sales / peak periods: 4–7 Japanese business days
- Snacks & food items: 3–10 business days (sourced fresh from Japan)
- Special or zero-stock items: May take longer — we'll notify you by email
Delivery time after dispatch:

Unclaimed Packages
If your package is returned due to an error on your part (incorrect address, recipient name, or failure to collect), the return shipping cost will be deducted from your refund. The remaining amount will be refunded to your original payment method within 3–5 business days after the package is received back at our Japan warehouse.
Couriers may deliver your package via the following methods without prior phone notification:
- Direct-to-door delivery (signature may be required)
- Delivery to apartment manager, mailroom, or parcel locker
- Leaving a pickup notice for a nearby collection point
- Transfer to a local third-party delivery partner
Postage & Taxes
Postage responsibility:
- If a return or reshipment is due to customer error (wrong address, uncollected package), the customer bears all postage costs.
- If a return or reshipment is due to SmikieJapan's error or courier/force majeure issues, SmikieJapan covers all postage costs.
Taxes & import duties:
- USA: A 10% import fee is collected at checkout. No additional charges at delivery.
- Canada & EU: Sales tax collected at checkout. If charged again by the courier, contact us with proof for reimbursement.
- Southeast Asia & other regions: Taxes not collected at checkout. Local customs or the carrier may invoice duties upon delivery — these are the customer's responsibility.
Recipient & Address Changes
- Before shipping: Contact us immediately to update your recipient name or delivery address at no charge.
- After shipping: We can request an address change from the courier on your behalf. Additional fees may apply (standard fee: ¥1,300 JPY). Changes are not guaranteed.
- Package lost due to incorrect address: This falls outside our compensation policy. The customer is responsible for any fees incurred.
- Recipient name: Must match a real person's name. Packages returned due to incorrect names will incur fees charged to the customer.
Track Your Order
Once your order is dispatched from our Japan warehouse, you'll receive a shipping confirmation email containing your tracking number.
You can track your order in two ways:
- Log in to your SmikieJapan account → My Orders → click on your order to view tracking details
- Visit the FedEx or DHL website and enter your tracking number directly
Delivery Issues
If your tracking shows "Delivered" but you haven't received your package:
- Check with your building management, mailroom, or neighbors first
- Contact us within 3 business days of the "Delivered" status
- The courier may contact you by email or phone during their investigation
The following situations fall outside our compensation policy:
- Incorrect recipient name that prevents delivery
- Package undeliverable due to incorrect, incomplete, or changed address
- Recipient did not cooperate with the courier's investigation
- SmikieJapan was not contacted within the agreed timeframe
Delays & Compensation
Your order is typically dispatched within 1–5 business days. However, delays can occur due to:
- High order volume during sales events or holidays
- Courier warehouse overflow or capacity issues
- Japanese public holidays (Golden Week, New Year, Obon)
- Customs inspection or clearance delays
During peak periods, dispatch may be delayed by 5–10 additional Japanese business days. We work with extra warehouse staff to minimize delays and actively communicate with couriers.
Overweight Fee
The maximum shipping weight per order is 10 kg.
- Orders exceeding 10 kg will incur an additional fee of ¥1,500 JPY per kilogram over the limit
- This fee applies even if the order qualifies for free shipping
- Orders significantly exceeding 10 kg may be adjusted or canceled
- Order weight is calculated based on warehouse measurement data
Remote Area Surcharges
Couriers charge additional fees for deliveries to remote or difficult-to-reach areas. If your address is classified as a remote area by FedEx or DHL, this surcharge will be automatically added to your shipping cost at checkout.

Customs Declaration & Clearance
As your order ships internationally from Japan, it may be subject to customs inspection in your country. In some cases, customs authorities may request your ID or supporting documents for clearance.
- Please cooperate with customs requests promptly to avoid delays or package returns
- If a package is returned due to non-cooperation, we will refund the order minus return shipping and courier fees
- Any ID provided is used solely for customs declaration — your personal information remains confidential
