1–3 drops per eye, 5–6 times daily. Wait at least 5 minutes between applications.
Children (7–14)
1–2 drops per eye, 3–4 times daily. Adult supervision required.

Contact lens users

How to apply

Step 1. Wash hands. Tilt head back. Pull down lower lid to form a pocket.

Step 2. Hold the bottle above the eye, do not let the tip touch the eye, lashes, or skin (contamination risk).

Step 3. Squeeze 1 drop. Close eyes for 1 minute. Blot excess with a clean tissue.

If bottle tip touches anything: Discard the bottle. Do not continue using a contaminated dropper — bacterial contamination can cause serious eye infections.
ACC-03 Precautions, Contraindications & Side Effects
⛔ Do not use if you have:
  • Glaucoma or history of elevated intraocular pressure
  • Known allergy to neostigmine methylsulfate or any preservative
  • Severe corneal abrasion or eye trauma

Consult doctor before use if:

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Receiving medical treatment for any eye condition
  • Wearing soft contact lenses (special instructions apply)
  • Symptoms persist or worsen after 5 days

Possible side effects (uncommon)

  • Temporary eye irritation, stinging, or burning at instillation
  • Eye redness (paradoxical), itching, swollen eyelid
  • Blurred vision (rare, usually 30 sec, do not drive if persistent)
  • Allergic reaction (rash, hives, breathing difficulty — discontinue immediately, seek emergency care)

Drug interactions

Wait at least 10 minutes between this product and other eye drops or eye ointments. Do not combine with other anti-fatigue eye drops without pharmacist guidance.

If symptoms persist beyond 5 days, discontinue use and consult an eye doctor. Persistent eye fatigue or redness may indicate underlying conditions (dry eye disease, conjunctivitis, glaucoma) that require diagnosis.

ACC-05 🇵🇭 Important Information for PH Buyers

Regulatory status in the Philippines

Rohto V Active is registered with the Philippine FDA (Food and Drug Administration) under OTC drug registration DR-XY-XXXXXX. Sale is permitted to consumers 18 and over. Always retain receipt for FDA-PH compliance.

Common use cases in PH

  • Office workers — long screen hours in air-conditioned offices (BPO sector dryness)
  • Drivers — Manila traffic + dusty conditions cause eye irritation
  • Students — extended phone/laptop use after school

Tropical climate notes

Bottle stable up to 30°C — keep away from sunlight in your bag during commute. Once opened, must be discarded within 30 days regardless of remaining liquid (humidity accelerates contamination).

FDA-PH Hotline: 1-800-1-888-FDAP (3327). For adverse reactions: report to FDA Philippines within 48 hours.

ACC-06 🇺🇸 Important Information for US Buyers
U.S. FDA Disclaimer Rohto V Active is a Japanese OTC eye drop and is not FDA-approved as a US OTC drug. It is sold in the United States as a personal-use imported pharmaceutical under FDA's personal-use import allowance. Statements above describe the product's approved use under Japan's Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Act (PMD Act) — not US FDA.

Why Japanese eye drops are different

Japanese OTC eye drops contain higher concentrations of vasoconstrictors (tetrahydrozoline) and active vitamins than US OTC equivalents (Visine, Refresh, Systane). This is why r/AsianBeauty and r/contacts users seek them out for office screen fatigue. The cooling sensation is intentional — Japanese formulations target sensory feedback.

What the cooling number means

Rohto rates each product on a 1–8 cool scale. V Active is level 4/5 — refreshing, but not the extreme cooling of Z Pro (level 8). Beginners should start with level 3 or below.

What we recommend you NOT do

  • Do not use daily long-term — vasoconstrictors can cause rebound redness with overuse (more than 4 weeks daily)
  • Do not share bottles — risk of cross-contamination
  • Do not buy in bulk for resale — FDA personal-use limits apply

Lifesaver after 10hr BPO shifts

Working night shift in Makati AC means dry red eyes by 3am. Two drops of V Active and the redness gone in seconds. The cooling is strong but not painful. Ordered 2 more.

Used in Tokyo, hooked back home

Discovered Rohto in Shibuya pharmacies. SF Bay tech worker here, 12hr screen days. V Active is my go-to. Started with cooling level 3 first, this is good progression. Will not return to Visine.
