The set runs on uni-ball One gel ink, Mitsubishi Pencil's formulation designed to stay at the surface of the paper so color reads dense and clean instead of washed out, which is what makes low-saturation shades work at all. The eight inks are Cappuccino Brown, Mango Orange, Avocado Green, Nemophila Blue, Poppy Red, Plum Purple, Sesame Gray and Black, so you get a full color-coding system plus a proper black for body text. At 0.38mm the line is fine enough for planner grids, habit trackers, margin notes and small hand-lettering without bleeding into the next box. 1. Uncap and write at a normal angle - uni-ball One gel ink starts immediately and does not need priming.
2. Assign each of the eight colors a meaning before you start a notebook, so the color-coding stays consistent across a term.
3. Let a line dry a moment before highlighting or taping over it, as gel ink sits on the paper surface.
4. Cap the pens after use and store them flat to keep the ink feeding evenly.
5. Test the palette on your actual paper first - muted tones read differently on cream, kraft and bright white stock.
