UNI Kurutoga Pipe Slide Model M5-452 Pink/Black/Blue Self Sharpening Pencil Lead Made In Japan

The Kurutoga Pipe Slide Model M5-452 takes the standard Kurutoga engine and adds a sliding tip pipe. The engine itself is the reason the line exists: every time you lift the lead and press down again, a gear turns the lead a fraction, so it wears evenly into a cone instead of forming a wide flat wedge, and the line stays the same width and darkness from the first stroke to the last. The pipe slide mechanism goes a step further. Instead of a fixed metal pipe, the tip pipe retracts gradually as the lead wears down, staying in contact with and supporting the lead throughout its length. That means less lead breakage, no need to knock out more lead every few lines, and the ability to write down almost the entire piece of lead. It uses 0.5 mm lead, works by knock, and is offered in Pink, Black and Blue. Made in Japan by Mitsubishi Pencil.

1. Knock the top to feed 0.5 mm lead; the pipe supports it, so you do not need a long exposed length.
2. Write normally and lift the tip between characters so the rotating engine advances.
3. Let the pipe slide back on its own as the lead wears; do not force it.
4. Refill lead through the top after removing the cap and eraser, using 0.5 mm lead only.
5. Avoid dropping the pencil on its tip to protect the sliding pipe and the rotation mechanism.
