ZEBRA Sarasa Clip Gel Pen 0.5mm Vintage Color Additional 5-Color Set

This is the follow-up to Sarasa Clip Vintage Color: five additional shades that extend the dusky palette rather than repeat the original set. The pen is unchanged - a 0.5mm tip, water-based pigment gel ink, the movable binder clip, a JF-0.5 refill - so the two sets sit together as one ten-pen kit rather than competing. Across the vintage range Zebra has released tones including blue-black, red-black, green-black, sepia black, brown-grey, blue-grey, dark grey, cassis black, bordeaux purple and camel yellow, all mixed to read as darkened, aged ink instead of stationery brights. The point of the additional set is coverage: once the first five are doing the everyday work, these fill the gaps that a planner spread or a scrapbook page needs - a grey that is not black, a purple that is not violet, a yellow that is not highlighter. Because the ink is pigment rather than dye, the tones stay where they were mixed instead of drifting after months in a notebook. Made in Japan by Zebra.

1. Buy this alongside the original Vintage set rather than instead of it - the two are designed as halves of one palette.
2. Use the darker shades in place of black for body text, and keep the lighter vintage tones for annotation and headers.
3. Work on cream or kraft paper to get the aged effect these colors were mixed for.
4. Refill each pen with a Zebra JF-0.5 cartridge in the matching vintage color instead of replacing the barrel.
5. Let the line dry a couple of seconds before closing the notebook; gel sits wetter on the page than oil-based ink.
