Fountain Pen Ink Converter Gold IP Finish

This is Sailor's own ink converter for its standard-size fountain pens — the piece that lets you fill from a bottle instead of relying on cartridges. It replaces the cartridge in the section, and turning the knob draws ink up into the barrel, opening the entire world of bottled ink to a pen that shipped with plastic refills. The converter measures about 7.5 mm in diameter by 69 mm long and weighs 2.8 g, and Sailor makes the knob in ten colors so you can match it to the ink you keep loaded or to the pen's own finish, including a gold IP-finished version for gold-trimmed pens. Fit matters more than looks: this standard converter is for Sailor's regular-size fountain pens and cannot be used with rear-knob piston fillers such as the Realo, or with the ultra-slim Sharena. Sailor's mini pens, including Professional Gear Slim Mini and Professional Gear Mini, need the separate Converter Mini instead. Made in Japan by Sailor.

1. Remove the cartridge or old converter from the section and check that your pen is a standard-size Sailor, not a Realo, Sharena or mini model.
2. Push the converter firmly onto the section nipple until it seats.
3. Turn the knob to expel air, submerge the whole nib in the ink bottle, then turn the knob back to draw ink up.
4. Wipe the nib and section with a soft cloth or tissue before capping the pen.
5. Flush the converter and feed with cool water when changing ink colors, and let both dry before refilling.
